A Heart of Wisdom

It’s always somewhat nostalgic when this time of year comes around. Some tend to recall the time past and think on the “should’a, would’a, could’ves.” Others gratefully contemplate on the things they were able to accomplish. As we enter into the final days of 2018 and look forward to 2019, let me encourage you to pray the prayer of Psalm 90:12: “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (NKJV). The Oxford Dictionary defines wisdom as “the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement.” Let us praise God for the good times we can look back on! They are a constant reminder of His grace and promise of His ever-abiding presence. Let us be encouraged as we look ahead, for His mercies are made new each day (Lam. 3:22-23). And yes, let us also thank God for the “bad” things because we have chosen to believe that “all things work together for the good of those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposes” (Romans 8:28). After all, “this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for [us]” (1 Thess. 5:18). As we venture on into the year of our Lord 2019, let’s make every day count for the glory of His name, and let’s endeavor to attain a heart of wisdom by “numbering our days”. Happy New Year 2019!

Making Memories

By Anonymous

I close my eyes and take a deep breath; the smell of campfire smoke is on the air. I hear loved ones talking and laughing. I open my eyes and smile since our Fall Church Camping trip is finally here! The group is full of excitement and joy as we begin our weekend of worship and bonding. There’s something special about bringing in the Sabbath by singing praises to our Lord while sitting around a campfire surrounded by nature and friends. Getting up Sabbath morning to breakfast over an open fire, forming a circle of camp chairs as we sing praises and open The Word of God in study. Sharing a picnic style potluck, enjoying Sabbath afternoon activities, and closing Sabbath together. My soul rejoices in the knowledge of the soon coming of our Lord when every day will be like a Camping Sabbath! I pray God let us reach all so they can come and join with us before it’s too late!

Health Nugget

Be Still - Helen Cagle

Take time everyday for quiet time. We are busy people. Our body and mind get tired. Go to a place or wait till everyone is in bed and sit still, think only one good happy thought. Breath in through the nose and out through the mouth. Do this 10 times. It will refresh your body and mind and make your lungs stronger.

Be still and know that I am God. - Psalms 46:10 (KJV)

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. - 1 Peter 3:4 (KJV)

Elder's Counsel - Future Mission

Since we are in a new year, here is an idea of what your elders have in mind this coming year, 2019.

Elders Objectives

• To offer spiritual leadership and general administration to the church by coordinating planning, guarding Christian standards and managing the church relationship with other worldwide church organizations;
• To provide church oversight by keeping watch over the flock and church activities;
• To nurture and care for the flock through counseling, visitation and praying with members faced by various challenges; and,
• To steer the church towards evangelistic activities while working with other church departments.

Mission

The elder’s office as the office that is in charge for spiritual growth, nurture and retentions will work with other departments towards ensuring that the Chestatee SDA church participates in soul winning by proclaiming the everlasting gospel as espoused by the three angels messages (Revelation 14:4-10) as the world is being prepared for Christ’s soon return.

The elder’s office will advocate for Christ-like living, effective teaching of God’s word, disciple the flock, nurturing and retaining the new converts and serving the flock to keep the mission alive.

Vision

The elders’ desk joins the world church in the greatest vision which is the restoration of all creation to full harmony with his perfect will and righteousness.

Bible Study Update

Dear Friends, as Melania and I continue with our weekly study group on Sundays at 4:30, please remember us and them in prayer.  We have completed about 8 of the 25 lessons, going slowly but surely because there is much discussion and scripture reference before we move onto the next subject.  Soon we will be addressing the state of the dead and the importance of the Sabbath. As Seventh Day Adventists, these beliefs are doctrinal, and the importance of presenting these subjects are key to understanding the teachings as we understand them from the Bible. These folks have become our friends, and we care for them a great deal, and so pray that the Holy Spirit will lead us in our words, actions and deeds, so a clear understanding can be shared with all of them. They are all very receptive, as we are all studying the Word of the Lord together, which they, and we, are all truly enjoying.

May the Lord bless all our efforts as we do our best to lead everyone around us into the understanding of scripture, and Gods wonderful plans for Salvation, so that not one is left outside the banquet hall.
